May 7, 2008 - Mayor William M. Manzi, III and Veterans Services Director Thomas Hargreaves present a City Citation and the Edward Alekel Award to Methuen's Matthew Cook. The Alekel Award is presented by the family of Edward Alekel, Methuen Veteran and longtime Veterans Agent. Mayor Manzi and Tom Hargreaves also receive an American Flag that flew in Iraq shortly before a battle. The flag was provided in honor of all Methuen Veterans by Sergeant First Class Marcos Mencia who is serving in Iraq.
