Mission Statement: Nearly 5,000 veterans reside in Methuen, 500 of whom are disabled. Retired military, widow compensation and disabled veterans bring in $4 million per year to the City of Methuen. According to Massachusetts General Law, every city and town in Massachusetts that has a population of 12,000 or more must have a Veterans Officer.

Veterans Medical Foster Homes: The Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA is offering Medical Foster Homes and finds caregivers in communities willing to take veterans into their homes. Payment includes room, board, 24-hour supervision, medication assistance and personal care. For information, please read the following May 2009 Methuen Life Article.
Veteran Preference for City Employment: There is a Veterans Employment Preference list in the Methuen Human Resources Office regarding City of Methuen job opportunities. Interested veterans may sign their name to the list and receive preference for jobs available. The list has been established per the City Council Resolution on Veterans Employment Preference
